Lumbers chooses subjects that often have a historical twist. With a few exceptions most of his paintings represent Canadian subjects. Portrayed in a realistic style, but modified enough to give a special creative twist to each piece. He frequently adds people or animals to his paintings, that add another dimension to his work.
His paintings are represented in collections in Canada, USA and Europe.
